2017 is sure to be Journey Hawaii’s best year yet! With new facilities and a completely revamped itinerary, those returning will feel like they’re experiencing it for the first time. We’ve added new leadership curriculum based in the latest findings of youth self-efficacy research, participant surveys, and our years of “on the ground experience.” This year’s adventure will not only be fun and exciting, it will change your life!
Youth from outside of Hawaii will travel into Honlolulu airport on Sunday where our Journey counselors will greet them, help load their luggage, and transport them to the North Shore. We’ll all be gathered at the new Journey Campus by 8 pm where we will hold an orientation and evening Counselor’s Corner. All will be divided into groups and the fun will begin!
If you are flying in, your airfare can either be arranged by you or by Journey’s travel agent. There are no guarantees that Journey can get a better “deal,” but it is more likely you will travel with others that you will see at camp. Often, Skymiles or other arrangements will suit your situation better. Feel free to do whatever is best for your situation… either way is perfectly fine.
Journey tuition covers everything from airport pickup on Sunday to airport dropoff on Saturday except for souvenirs and Saturday’s meals. Often, groups will want to celebrate a successful week by going to Cheesecake Factory or another restaurant that can tend to be on a pricey side. Plan to spend about $50 for food for the entire day on Saturday. Money for souvenirs are anyone’s guess… If you tend to spend a lot, bring a lot. If it’s not your thing, then plan accordingly. Typically, participants will want to take home gifts for everyone in the family and more.
