Financial Aid Guidelines
The Journey Foundation strives to make participation possible for every young man and woman that qualifies for a Journey leadership program. Quality programs, such as ours, have high costs associated with them, which can make it difficult for families to afford. We make every effort to ensure no child is unable to attend due to lack of funds.

Very generous Journey Foundation supporters have provided funding to assist families that are in this very situation. The amount that will be provided to each family qualifying for aid will be dependent on the number of program participants who qualify and the money available each year.

The following serves as a general guideline for how these funds will be distributed:

1. Income
We employ the same standard that is used to determine qualification for the federal free and reduced lunch program. The chart below serves as the general income guideline. If you currently qualify for free or reduced lunch, chances are you will also qualify for Journey Foundation aid.
2. Unusual Circumstances
Often a past earning description does not accurately describe a families' current financial circumstance. Job loss, health crises, or other issues can affect a teen's opportunity to attend.
3. Opportunity Factors
Another aspect that enters into the selection process for aid qualification is the child's objective "Opportunity Factors." For instance, if all other factors were the same and one child is 12 and therefore has three more years (or opportunities) to attend, and another child is 15…making this his only opportunity, the 15 year-old will receive the aid. Objective Opportunity factors include: age, scholarship (if they should receive a scholarship instead of financial aid,) and prior Journey program attendance.
